Q&A: Windows Media player cannot read my storage card

Q: I have a problem with my pda.
I have a Kingston 2gig mini Sd memory card. Since yesterday, everytime i try to access the memory card through Windows Media Player --> library i get the error message "an unexpected error
occurred".

A: Open File Explorer and navigate to your storage card. In the root of the card there are two files: MSMETADATA and WMDRM. Delete them. If you can't see them, they probably are hidden. In File Explorer, click Menu and select Show all Files. You should now be able to access you SD card within Media Player.

It was great, thank you very much. just I wanna add that after that reboot your device and then update your media library then the storage card will be identified.

    good luck!

  3. The problem is that I have to do this about every week and when I do, I lose the rating information and sometimes the playlist info. Not ideal... I also have an issue that my phone locks up while I am syncing with WMP11, also not ideal. I have a P3600 HTC phone with a sandisk 2GB mini SD card.

    Any ideas?

  8. Hi Robert,

    Welcome to Pocket PC Mauritius.

Are you able to open any other files stored on the Storage card? Try removing the card and inserting it again.

THanks. THe original instructions worked for me. The files were in folders of the same name versus in the root.
Once I changed the old file name I hit the reset button which didn't seem to do anything so I popped the SD card out and back in. The devide asked if I wanted to check it for media files. I said yes and now it all works. THanks for getting me back up and running quickly!
