IR transfers CD in seconds
A Japanese lab is working on a new Infrared technology with transfer speed of up to 1Gbps according to Digital World. That is 250 times faster than the actual technology. "The new IR method relies on swapping the old LED for a new semiconductor laser that can 'blink' far faster than any diode." HTC has long removed IR from their devices for faster bluetooth and wifi. They will most likely reconsider their decision now with the revival of infrared.
