How to: Remove Hotmail Account and Outlook Account!!!

I came across this post on Pocket PC tweaks that ecplains how to remove Hotmail and even Outlook. I'm just going to try the hotmail part to see if it resolves my problem. Remember that you do this at your own risk.

First go to your messaging accounts and make sure you are at the inbox of your text messages (not in the Hotmail or Outlook accounts) then exit the messaging program. It is important to make sure you exit not just minimize. (tmail.ext) Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc Remove the entire key Hotmail This works for the Outlook account too. Turn the device off for 15 sec (to allow the registry to save) then soft-reset.

If you want to delete only Outlook account, it is more easy.
Run control panel and choose mail, and you can see your outlook account. Just push a remove button.

Thanks for your comments but in case you didn't notice this is about Pocket Outlook.

i have a similar request but not sure how to do this:

I was given the opportunity to create accounts in the messaging section, in order to download messages from my email accounts on my domaine. these are accounts that normally are downloaded to desktops, and messages are left of the server so they can be accessed by the pocket pc as well. however it appears that several of those accounts have gone inactive on the pocket pc. Meaning that when i look at the user information main pages, the accounts are listed, but when i try to access them, they don't open, and when i go to the messaging section, they don't show up. Furthermore, i am unable to override or erase them, so i can re-create the accounts in order to access the email messages again. Soft-reboot doesn't remove them. I wonder if there is a setting whereby those accounts can be removed manually, or if i need to do a hard-reboot of the machine.
i don't want to remove the hotmail or outlook accounts, just the extra ones created that have gone zombie.

please email me suggestions at drjohn@activehealthcare.ca

Thanks for the tip - worked for me. PHM though is obsolete for the device we have, but I downloaded Resco Explorer 2007 for Pocket PC (v6.10)from: http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
and it work just like you said. Step by step.

Easier way to do it that I just found...

Go back through the account settings and hit advanced menu at the end.. uncheck everything for what it is to sync.

It then gives you a warning that everything sync related will be removed..

Back to messaging the Outlook account is gone

I have exactly the opposite problem. My PDA is telling me that "inbox is not installed"... the only fix I've found is a hard reboot, but considering my mass amount of programs and games, I don't want to go this route. Ideas?

Go To
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Values
\UserCannotCreate
And change Value data to 0.

This should allow you to delete the account through the messaging homepage

one more way, browse to accounts where its lists pop3 and or imap. now press down the stylus on the account to delete, wait, and after a second or two delete shows up. select delete and you should be set.

Hello,

I came across this blog and had a question. I just upgraded the firmware on a HTC VX6800 and restored the previous saved PIM, Contact, Email messages, ect. Everything came accross fine except there is a ghost email account showing up in the messaging status window under the home screen. Is there a registry entry I can modify that will allow me to remove what shows up under the messaging status window? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Thanks in advance.
