Microsoft unveils Windows Mobile 6.5

“We all want to connect quickly to the people and information that’s important to us from across our lives at work and at home,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. “A Windows phone lets people take their entire world of digital information, communications, applications and entertainment with them wherever they go.”

Microsoft today officially launched Windows Mobile 6.5 worldwide and the new OS has some improvements, which according to some reviews make it better than Google Android. I did not get a chance to play with it, so there is not much I can write about. The press release by Microsoft provides some info about the new OS and phones that will receive the upgrade.

Hopefully Windows has enough tech to conteract the dominance of the iPhone in the phone market.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments.

Not just yet. WM6.5 has some improvements in terms of usability. While I think it does beat out Android, there is still work ahead to catch up with the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 will reportedly do just that.

Let's wait and see...
